An Egyptian author who wrote short stories, novels, and literary articles. He was born on February 25, 1938 in Dayrut, Assiut. He received a limited education and worked in a number of professions, the last of which was a worker at the High Dam at the end of the sixties. Mostagab began publishing his stories in 1969 before moving to the Arabic Language Academy, where he worked as an employee until he retired. He is best known for the novel “The Secret History of Numan Abdel Hafez,” which won him the State Incentive Award in 1984 and was translated to several languages. He also wrote a number of books on public culture. He is known for What's Done Is Done (1992) starring Layla Olwi, which was an adaptation of one of his stories. He died in 2005, aged 67.
