He is an Egyptian director, writer, and actor, who was born in 1962 in Cairo. He is the son of comedian Mohamed Awad, and is married to actress Randa, and his daughter, actress Jamila Awad. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the Higher Institute of Cinema, Directing Department in 1985. He worked as an assistant director during his studies in a number of films, including Virgin & the White Hair (1983). He also directed video clips since 1989. He became known for Crystal (1993), which he directed and wrote.
