An Egyptian poet and writer of Levantine descent, born in 1909. He's considered the first poet who wrote songs for Farid El Atrash to sing when the latter was approved as a singer on the radio, as he wrote his first song, Hopeless Love, in early 1935. He went on to collaborate on dozens of songs with El Atrash, with whom he also became friends. The musical films for which he wrote the lyrics include Young Dreams, Honeymoon, and Last Lie. He died on August 11, 1987.
