Despite his great talent and the fact that his career took-off to a promising start with an involvement with Youssef Chahine, Amr was nonetheless assigned minor roles in his first few years in cinema. Thereafter, Amr proved his talents as a comedy actor when he performed in Khaled Youssef’s films “Heyna Maysarah” and “Dukkan Shehata”. Amr finally found a leading role in Youssef Chahine’s “Kalimny Shoukran”.


Amr Abdel Gelil is an Egyptian actor who was born in 1963. He began his artistic career in 1986 with a role in the play Bulldozer. His second direct work was with the great director Youssef Chahine in his second movie of his Alexandrian trilogy Alexandria More and More in one of the most important stages of his artistic life. Despite his strong start, he continued to provide supporting roles in a number of work. The pivotal turning point in his career was in 2007. This year, he participated for the third time with Youssef Chahine in his last movie Chaos. Abdel Gelil is best known for his roles in the TV series Tayea (2018) and The End (2020).
