Maryam Nouhy |
Algerian musician and composer born on 6 January 1950 in a town on the German-French border. He grew up in a classical music-loving family. At 12 years old, he began playing the guitar. He received a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education in Algeria to study music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, US. At 19 years old, he was the first Arab to attend it. He graduated in 1979 and returned to Algeria where he held jazz concerts, taught music, and composed scores for several works. He has worked with artists such as Cheb Khaled in 1988. In 1982, he had his daughter Sophia.
