Borhane Alaouié is a Lebanese writer and director. He was born in the village of Arnoun in southern Lebanon in 1941. He worked as an assistant camera operator for two years in Lebanese television, before studying film directing in the National High Institute of Theatrical Arts in Belgium and graduated there in 1970. Borhane made his feature film debut Kafr Qasem in 1978. He also made his first documentary in 1978 titled God Standing with the Poor is not Enough, which followed the Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy's experience with the architecture of the poor areas. In addition, Borhane made two other films:Beirut the Appointment and Finished.
