Mona Jan Qattan is an artist of Palestinian origin. She was born in Haifa, and after the UN's decision of dividing Palestine when she was at the age of two, she moved to Egypt with her mother Jacqueline Khoury, who was working as a journalist in Al-Ahram. She then joined a boarding school in England, and returned to Egypt to live with her mother. She eventually met the Egyptian poet and painter Salah Jahine, and they married in 1967 and had one daughter (Samia Jahine), the political activist. Qattan participated in many works for film and television, including Watch Out For Zuzu which was written by Jahine, Ameera My Love, El Karnak, Zezenia and the Taha Hussein biopic The Days.
