A film researcher who received his master's and doctorate from the Central State Institute of Cinema in Moscow. He works as a full-time professor at the Directing Department of the Higher Institute of Cinema. He co-wrote the screenplay for the film The Collar and the Bracelet (1986), directed by Khairy Bishara. He was a member in the judging committees of many film festivals, such as the National Film Festival and the Ismailia Documentary Film Festival. He also participated as the head of the jury at the Pyongyang International Film Festival in North Korea.
