A French-Algerian existential philosopher, playwright and novelist. He was born in the village of Dhraaan, Constantine Province, Algeria, in a very poor environment, from a French father and a Spanish mother. He studied at the University of Algiers through scholarships for his excellence and genius until he graduated from the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts. In 1957, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 44.
