An Egyptian actor and director, he joined the schools of the Cairo Khedivial District and then joined the Faculty of Law. His artistic career began in the 1960s as an actor in many films, including Between Two Palaces, The Migration of the Messenger and Eternal Love. His directorial debut was in the theater in 1968 through the play Camille.
