A Tunisian composer and musician, born on December 25, 1899 in Tunisia, into a family fond of Sufi singing (Issawiya). He joined the French school in Bab Eleiwa (the Alawite school) and learned music on a scientific basis. After, he resigned from his job, he began composing for theater. He then joined the Rashidiya School when it was founded in 1934, and contributed to the recording of a number of songs on Radio France. He adopted young talents and taught music for the benefit of the Tunisian army. He was awarded the Tunisian Order of Merit. He died in Tunis on February 27, 1998.
