An Egyptian novelist and writer, born on March 25, 1938, in Minya. He obtained a BA in physical education from the Teachers' College in Cairo in 1960, a diploma in screenwriting and a postgraduate diploma in directing from the Film Institute in 1972. He also wrote the stories of three feature films: Sons of Silence, A Story from Our Country, and The Harem Cage. He published seven collections of short stories, including The Incident That Happened (1987), and seven novels, including Sons of Silence (1974). He also wrote two children's books, a farce, and many studies.
