After graduation he joined the military service (1971-1975) where he witnessed October War (1973). During his residence in the army he was able to watch up to 4 movies per day in addition to directing a short movie "Garedat El Sabah"-"The morning newspaper"(1972) which was produced by the National Center for documentary films. Moreover he worked as an assistant for the director Sahdy Abdel Salam in film "Gyoush El Shams"-"The Army of the Sun"(1973). The film is dealing with October's war. After finishing his military service, he worked as a director assistant for Mohamed Bassiouny in "Ebtisama Wahda La Tekfy"-"A Smile is not Enough"(1977). Afterwards he directed on his own "AL Mokayada"-"The Barter "(1978). In 1979 he worked as an assistant for the famous director Youssef Shahin in "Al askandaria leeh"-"Alexandria Why".
