An Egyptian director, born in Maragha in Sohag Governorate in 1947. He graduated from the Higher Institute of Cinema (Directing Department) in 1970. He worked as an assistant with a number of directors, including Medhat Bakir, Shadi Abdel Salam and Youssef Chahine. His directorial debut was Deadly Jealousy (1982), after which he continued to direct films that gained critical and popular success, including: The Innocent, The Bus Driver, Against the Government, The Escape and Hot Night. He died in 1996 after suffering a heart attack after heart surgery.

Atef El Tayeb" is an Egyptian director born on the 26th of December 1947. He graduated from the High Institute of Cinema in 1970. During his studies he worked as an assistant for the director Ahmed Baker in film "Thalasat Wogouh Lelhob"-"Three Faces for love" (1969), "Dawaa Lelhayah"-"An invitation for life"(1973) in addition to working as editing assistant with Kamal Abou El Elaa.
After graduation he joined the military service (1971-1975) where he witnessed October War (1973). During his residence in the army he was able to watch up to 4 movies per day in addition to directing a short movie "Garedat El Sabah"-"The morning newspaper"(1972) which was produced by the National Center for documentary films. Moreover he worked as an assistant for the director Sahdy Abdel Salam in film "Gyoush El Shams"-"The Army of the Sun"(1973). The film is dealing with October's war. After finishing his military service, he worked as a director assistant for Mohamed Bassiouny in "Ebtisama Wahda La Tekfy"-"A Smile is not Enough"(1977). Afterwards he directed on his own "AL Mokayada"-"The Barter "(1978). In 1979 he worked as an assistant for the famous director Youssef Shahin in "Al askandaria leeh"-"Alexandria Why". He passed away on the 23rd of June 1995.
