Hassan Youssif was born in the district of al-Sayyida Zeinab. His full name is Hassan Youssif Hassan and he graduated from the Higher Institute for Theatrical Arts. Hassan also studied at the faculty of commerce in 1955 before working as a technical supervisor at the teaching theater at Banha. His talents were noticed by Hussein Rayled and he worked at the national theater.
Hassan excelled in his performance in the television production “Zeinab wa al-‘Arsh” (“Zeinab and the Throne”) and among his altruistic works was the first part of the television series “Layly al-Helmiyeh”. Hassan married actress Lubluba at the end of the 1960s before marrying actress Shams al-Baroudy. The two eventually retired from the cinema industry. Hassan directed several films which Shams had starred in. He also directed a production starring Shams al-Baroudy and ‘Aadel Imam titled “Ithnan ‘ala Tareeq al-‘Amal” (“Two on their Way to Work”) towards the end of his time as a television drama director.
Amongst his works the 2002 title “Amam al-Da’aa” is considered unmatched as a cinema work.
