Biography

A Syrian writer, born in Homs in 1943. After Rafeeq graduated from university in 1964, he returned to Homs and taught the English language at a couple of high schools for a few years. Rafeeq began writing articles in the "Al Orouba" newspaper in which he discussed and reviewed...Read more films until he had a special and permanent weekly corner in the newspaper in which he wrote about cinema. With Dr. Samir Dhaher, he co-founded the Cinema Club in Homs. Moreover, he presented several artistic programs, most notably his famous program "Cinematic Documents," which was shown on the Syrian Satellite Channel, in addition to editing and presenting other television programs on Syrian Arab TV, such as "Film and Commentary," "Issues in Arab Cinema," and "The Seventh Art." He died in February 2001.
