A late Egyptian composer, he was born in Tanta. His full name is Kamal Mahmoud Zaki Al Taweel. After his high school studies, he traveled to Cairo to pursue his artistic career. The young Kamal was attached to music since his childhood, and he loved singing and composing. He followed the advice of Sheikh Zakaria to learn the oud. After which he joined the Institute of Arabic Music in Alexandria in 1946, where he studied the oud and musical notes for two years, and he graduated in 1949. Al Taweel formed a successful duo with singer Abdel Halim Hafez, as they presented many successful songs together, including 'In a Day, in a Month, in a Year.' Al Taweel also composed the score of various films and series, including The Return of the Prodigal Son (1976) and Destiny (1997). He retired and died on the 9th of July 2003.
