An American actor, born on July 29, 1923 in Denver, Colorado. He was interested in bodybuilding, and he had a strong and muscular figure that surpassed actor Steve Reeves' (the professional bodybuilder who was known for starring in the Hercules films), which qualified him to replace him in the film series Hercules after he appeared in the movie The Ten Commandments (1956). Mitchell served in WWII in the US Army and was captured in the war. After it ended, he joined a college and graduated to be a high school teacher. In the early fifties, he began his acting career, in which he appeared in numerous films, including Around the World in 80 Days (1956) and Spartacus (1960). In 1964, he participated in the Egyptian joint production Kerim, Son of the Sheik. He passed away on September 20, 2003 in Marina del Rey, California.
