An Egyptian singer, his name is Hafez Ahmed Hassan, born in Cairo in 1908 in Qalaat al-Kabsh. He sang at weddings and was one of the most skilled and active promoters of this profession. Umm Kulthum sang his famous song "The Country of the Beloved". He appeared in a number of films, including Queen of the Stages (1936), alongside Badiaa Masabny. He died on June 6, 1987. |
