He was an Egyptian poet, born in 1898 in El Manial, Cairo. He grew up loving literature and poetry. Despite his high-end upbringing, Al-Manastirli was familiar with the conditions of the different working-classes, and he expressed these classes in quite a few songs he wrote, such as Congratulations on Your Funny Groom. As for his most famous songs that are still broadcast until now is the song Wahawi Ya Wa Hawi "Come and Look at the Crescent". He died on November 6, 1962. |
