Egyptian writer and novelist, Abdel Fattah Yahya El Taher Muhammad Abdullah was born on April 30, 1938, in the village of Karnak, Luxor city in southern Egypt. He worked in the Ministry of Agriculture for a short period, then moved to the city of Qena in 1959. At the beginning of his life, he wrote some stories for the specialized children’s magazine 'Samir'. In addition to his famous novel "The Collar and the Bracelet", which was adapted into the 1986 film by the same name, he wrote other literary work, most notably "Three Big Trees Bearing Oranges" and "The Tambourine and the Box" in 1974. He died in a car accident on the Cairo-Al-Wahat road, on the ninth of April 1981.
