He was born in Cairo in the Abbaseya neighborhood. He received a degree in literature form Ain Shams University in 1957. In 1962 he received a diploma in theatrical arts from the High Institute of Theatrical Arts. His talents appeared very early in his childhood, the continued practicing throughout university where he was part of the acting team portraying legendary Naguib El Rihany. After graduation he joined the television’s theatrical team, where his fame started with the play “Lady Golfedan”.
After this play he started his career in the cinema. He was also involved in some television series such as: “Al Parari wal Hamool”, “Bent El Hetta”, “Ahlan Ya gedo Aziz”, “Borg El Haz”. Some of his plays were: “Al Abeet”, “Massa El Kheir ya Masr”, “Motreb El Awatef”, “Asl we soora”, “Mogrem Raghm Anfo”, “Al Tartoor”.
His children were director Adel Awad and actor Alaa Awad. He is a high caliber comedian who’s body language and facial gestures were the reason for his success.
