Tamer is a well-rounded artist as he performs as well as write scripts. He worked as a screenwriter for the film “A’yn Shams” and acted in “Heliopolis”. Tamer is an all-round ambitious person who likes a challenge.


An independent film director, writer and producer, born on August 14, 1972 in Cairo. He studied journalism at Cairo University, and also studied film directing at the High Cinema Institute, graduating in 1998 with honors. He worked as an assistant director in big Egyptian productions. He also worked in directing commercials, teaching, and in the field of production for a number of companies. Between 1994 and 2004, he wrote, produced and directed a large number of short films and documentaries that won Arab and international awards, including On Mondays (2004). He co-wrote the movie The Eye of the Sun (2008) with director Ibrahim El Batout. In 2008, Tamer began preparing for his first feature film, A Long Film About Sadness, which later changed to The Last Days of the City, and worked on filming and writing it for over two years and a few months after the January 25 revolution. He is the founder of Zero Production company, in addition to co-founding with Khaled Abdullah the Cimatheque Alternative Film Centre, which aims to provide and support the needs of independent filmmakers in Egypt.
