    Najdat Ismail is a Syrian director, born in Aleppo in 1954 of Circassian origin. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanics. His artistic career began when he made a promotional film for a perfume brand in 1972. He is best known for these works: Walking on Sands in 1987, Fleeing to the Light, Oriental Tales, and The End of a Brave Man.
