In 2007, he was appointed Minister of Transportation and Minister of State for the National Assembly until 2008. In 2012, he was appointed Minister of Justice and Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs until 2013. He published many books, including collections of poetry, the most notable of which are "For the Nation, Not for Revenge," "Voluntary Fasting," and "The Description of Heaven in the Qur’an and Sunnah." He also worked in the press, as he had a daily poetry column called Hewar Rhymes in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Watan and the Qatari newspaper Al Sharq. He is known for the series Lion of the Island and Maryam's Brothers.
