Iman Mohammed Ali El Hamedan is an actress, singer, and TV presenter on Omani television. She started singing in 1989 and became famous afterwards for her famous nationalistic song “In Ism Baladna Baladna El Habeeba Oman” (“The Name of Our Country is Our Dear Country Oman), which became widely played and broadcasted on Omani TV. She was mainly a TV presenter who turned to acting and then to singing. Her mother was the anchorwoman on Sultanate of Oman TV, Rahma Hussein. She sang in Fawazir (a riddle show with musical numbers) “El Shi’r Diwan El Arab” (Poetry is the of the Literary Collection of the Arabs), which was presented on the Sultanate of Oman TV, in which she sang the program’s opening and ending credits song, as well as a number of songs on the programs themselves. After this, and for a long period of time, Iman got involved in acting. She acted in a number of Omani works, but returned to singing in 1996 and produced her first album entitled “Toba” (Repentance) with the Rotana Company. Afterwards, she remained preoccupied with her husband and children for three years and then released her second album “Iman 99” which became circulated widely despite announcing that she had decided to stop acting and start wearing the hijab. Yet she returned to acting 2005 after removing the hijab with her role in the program “El Octboot” (The Octopus). Afterwards she announced again that she would stop acting and wear the hijab, but again returned to acting but only in roles in which she wore the hijab.
