An actor and football player in Zamalek club and the Egyptian national team. He was born in Alexandria on February 26, 1931 and died in Cairo after a struggle with illness on December 4, 2008. Issam Bahij began playing football at Mansoura clubs in 1946, but left it in 1949 to join the Military College, from which he joined Zamalek club. Bahij played for the Egyptian national team for several years (1953-1960), during which he won the African Cup of Nations in 1959, and contributed to Egypt's victory in the Mediterranean Championship held in Barcelona in 1955. He retired from football in the early sixties and participated in the movie City's Talk (1964), then he returned to participate in the television series The Time of Emad Al-Din (2002). He passed away in 2008 at the age of 77.
