He was born in 1942 in Najaf. He completed his preparatory studies in Najaf and graduated from the Faculty of Arts, then he worked in teaching and journalism, whereupon he joined the Ministry of Information, where he held several positions, including Director of the Office of Censorship and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information. He authored many collections of poetry, including "As Sayf Wal Raqaba" (The Sword and the Neck) (1971). He also wrote the novel "Al Ayyam Al Taweela" (The Long Days) (1978). He died in 1997.
