  • Yara is an Egyptian fashion model, she earned the title of “Egypt’s Beauty Queen” in 2008. She had earlier studied Décor at the Institute of Cinema. Yara would never have...Read more envisioned becoming an actress one day. She had worked as a designer in training on the set of the television series “Ahzan Maryam” (“Maryam’s Woes”). That production was directed by A’del Al Maghrabi. Yara learned a lot from her working relationship with that director – she would observe him keenly while he was working. Moreover she wished that she would one day be casted into the series. Yara participated in the 2008 Miss Universe competition which was held in Vietnam. Worthy of note is that she was the only Arab participant in the competition. However, Yara did not qualify for the final stages of the competition. Director Khaled Youssif chose her as one of the new rising talents which had their debut in the cinema production “Heyna Maysara”. That same director was on the judge’s committee at the final stages of the Miss Universe competition. Upon her meeting Khaled Youssif she was surprised to learn that he had nominated her for the role of “Maryam”, the leading actor’s spouse. She began shooting immediately after the competition and was among the last cast members to be recruited. Although her character was initially restricted to 4 scenes that was eventually increased to 12.
