An Iraqi film director, born in the city of Basra in southern Iraq in 1940. He started in the theater and worked in the press, television, radio, and theatrical fields. In 1966, he and some friends founded the Aflam Al Yawm Foundation, which produced the movie The Guard, for...Read more which he wrote the story and in which he starred himself. In 1970, he joined the ranks of the Palestinian resistance in Beirut, established a film unit, and directed a number of films, including The Cold River. In 1976, he returned to Iraq and directed his documentary film The Marshes, then directed his first feature film Yonder Houses at the Alley, after which he was exiled from Iraq.
