Shaimaa Saied |
A Syrian writer, born in 1918 in Raqqa, northeastern Syria. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Damascus in 1945. In 1947, he was the youngest representative in the Syrian Parliament, and the following year, he joined the Syrian army as part of the Arab forces that fought against Israel. During that period, his works were published in the most widespread Syrian periodicals, such as Al-Hadith and Al-Makshof.
He wrote in all literary forms, including stories, novels, and articles. Among his important collections of short stories are "The Lieutenant’s Hour", "Love and the Soul" and "The Traitor". Among his notable novels are "The Doctor’s Fever", "Hearts on Wires" and "Drops of Blood". He also made contributions to travel literature, including "Tales from Travels" and "An Invitation to Travel". He died on April 5, 2006.
