An American actress, model, and singer, born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. She was born to an unknown father, so her name was changed to her mother's family name. She moved to an orphanage at the age of 9. She lived with many families and was subjected to harassment throughout her childhood. At the age of 16, she was married and after separation, she moved to Hollywood and studied acting and literature. She was discovered during a World War II photo shoot while working at a plant owned by actor Reginald Denny, and she became famous as a model at the age of 19. She died at the age of 36 of a drug overdose, some say she committed suicide to escape the pressures that surrounded her, and it was said that she was killed because of political reasons. She is best known for her films, River of No Return (1954), All About Eve (1950), The Seven Year Itch (1955), and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). |
