Mohamed Salah El-Din Abdel Sabour Youssef El Hawatky was an Egyptian poet and playwright born on 3 May 1931 in Zagazig. He's one of the very few Arab poets who greatly contributed in playwriting. He married TV host Samiha Ghaleb and had 2 daughters. His works include Layla and the Madman (1972), The Princess Awaits (1984), and Night Traveller (1978). He died on 13 May 1981 of a heart attack aged 50. |
