John Lee Hancock, Jr. is an American writer and filmmaker who was born on the 15th of December, 1956 in Longview, Texas. Hancock studied at Baylor University as an undergrad and subsequently earned a law degree from Baylor Law School. Prior to beginning his career as a screenwriter, Hancock worked at a law firm in Texas for a period of four years. Hancock’s screenwriting and directing debut took place in 1991 when he released the romantic comedy “Hard Time Romance”. Thereafter Hancock achieved considerable success working with sports dramas. His first foray into that genre was “The Rookie” which was a box office success in addition to being popular with the critics. His last such film, “The Blind Side”, was also a great success which won a number of awards including an Academy Award. |
