Peter Robert Jackson is a New Zealand film director, producer and screenwriter. He was born on the 31st f October, 1961 in Wellington, New Zealand, to Joan (née Ruck), a factory worker and housewife, and William (Bill) Jackson, a wages clerk - were both immigrants...Read more from England. Jackson started his film making career by producing, writing and directing short films with his friends. He then left school and worked as a photojournalist, and in 1987 started writing several scripts with playwright Stephen Sinclair. Jackson began his career with the "splatstick" horror comedy Bad Taste (1987) and the black comedy Meet the Feebles (1989) before filming Braindead (1992). He shared an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay nomination with his partner Fran Walsh for the film Heavenly Creatures, which brought him to mainstream prominence in the film industry. Throughout his career, his films diversified from drama to horror to comedy, and for the better part of it, has been known for his meticulously crafted, huge Hollywood productions, including the 17-Academy-Awards-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and "The Hobbit" trilogy.
