Syrian writer and theatre critic who was born in Homs, Syria, where he received his education from primary to secondary stages. He completed his university studies at Damascus University in the Department of Arabic Language, graduating in 1960. He worked as a teacher of Arabic in secondary schools from 1960 to 1976. In 1986, he started his theatrical activity and formed theatrical groups, establishing the Labor Theater Company in Homs in 1973. In 1972, he started directing until 1990; over this period, he directed twenty-two plays, including two plays for children, and these plays were written by him and by other Arab and foreign writers. He teaches theatrical recitation at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus.
