Jamie Foxx is an American actor, singer-songwriter, stand-up comedian and talk radio host. He was born in Texas in December 1967 and was adopted by a yard worker and a domestic worker. In second grade, Foxx was such a talented joke teller, his teacher would use his jokes as a reward for a well-behaved class. He won a music scholarship to United States International University, where he studied classical music and composition. HE made his film debut in 1992 alongside Robin Williams in the comedy "Toys." He created and starred in his own comedy show "The Jamie Foxx Show" from 1996 to 2001. In 1999, Foxx won the attention of critics for his performance in the racy, football drama "Any Given Sunday." The film established Foxx as an actor worth his salt, and he consistently worked in film after this point. In 2005, Foxx broke all kinds of multiple-award records. He is the first person to have been nominated for three acting awards at the Golden Globes in the same year. He joined an elite stratum of eleven actors to have been nominated for both a Supporting and Leading Acting Oscar in the same year for two different movies. He was nominated for "Collateral" and won the Oscar for Best Actor for "Ray," the hit biopic chronicling the life and times of Ray Charles, for which Foxx sang and played all of the piano parts in the movie after training with the legend himself the year before his death. His immersion into the character was so complete and believable, the star's son got emotional on set, saying "it was just too real." Foxx has since appeared in "Jarhead" (2005), "Dreamgirls" (2006), and most recently, Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" (2012) as the title character, an ex-slave turned bounty hunter hero.
