An American filmmaker and producer, born on May 19, 1941 in New York and began her life in journalism. Thereafter, she devoted her life to cinema and made about 15 films as a screenwriter, director, and producer, most notably Julie & Julia (2009), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and You've Got Mail (1998). She passed away on June 26, 2012 of leukemia, at age 71.
