Iranian director, actor, and writer who was born on February 1, 1969 in Baneh, Kurdistan province, Iran. He lived there until he moved with his family to Sanandaj at age 12 due to civil conflicts. He studied in Tehran in 1992 and started his career in industrial photography, and later, he studied film directing at Iran Broadcasting College. He started using 8mm camera to shoot short documentaries. In the mid 1990s, his movies received many local and global awards. His debut feature was A Time for Drunken Horses (2000), which was the first movie in Kurdish cinema. |
