An Egyptian novelist, born on January 1, 1930. He joined the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, and graduated in the History Department in 1950. He worked on radio, and when the July Revolution took place in 1952, he was the first announcer to read the statements of the revolution. In addition to reading the news, he presented many programmes, the most important of which is, Person of the Week, about members of the Revolutionary Command Council. Then he took over the supervision of the Armed Forces Corner, and in the beginning of 1954 he began presenting the programme, City Lights.
He was appointed chief broadcaster in 1960, but he left the radio in 1970 and worked as director of external relations at the Ministry of Culture. He returned to the microphone in 1986 through the Ramadan program, Reading in a Book, which he co-presented with a number of senior broadcasters. President Hosni Mubarak honored him on the seventh media anniversary, as he was one of the radio pioneers. He also provided commentary on the TV movie The Road to Eilat. He died on March 5, 1997.
