A Lebanese playwright and director, born in Beirut. He is considered one of the greatest Arab playwrights of the twentieth century, and one of the pioneers of political theater in the Arab world. His works have been translated into several languages ​​such as German, English, Armenian, Iranian, and French. Among his notable works are the plays The Road to Qana (2006), Mehtar's Journey to Srinagar (2010), and May God Bless Beirut (1994). He died on 3 December 2017.
