Nagwa Karam is a Lebanese artist that is one of a kind. She was born into a Maronite family and what has distinguished her from other musicians since the start of her career and until this very day is her wonderful and penetrating voice.
Nagwa is a folklore artist and her albums have consistently topped rankings. This success has come about despite the fact that she has not collaborated with the contemporary musician Hamid al-Sha’ree who was integral to the success of many other artists of her generation. Her unique voice was the key advantage in this respect.
In 2006 Nagwa Karam made her first forays into the world of acting.
Nagwa is also a humanitarian who has used art as a means to penetrate darkness. An example of such humanitarian activity was an instance where she sang in Tunis for Lebanon during the Israeli war on Lebanon in the summer of 2006. The performance saw people sympathizing with the Lebanese and chanting support.
