Syrian writer, born in Damascus in 1931. He was forced to drop out of school in 1944. He began writing stories in 1958. He also wrote short critical articles and children’s stories. He held several positions, for example, editor-in-chief of the...Read more Syrian Literary Stance magazine, editor-in-chief of Al-Dustour magazine in London, and managing editor of Al-Naqid magazine, in addition to his work as a cultural editor for the Riyadh Al-Rayes Book and Publishing Company in London. His first collection was published in 1960 and was entitled "The Neighing of the White Horse". He contributed to the establishment of the Writers Union in Syria at the end of 1969 and was the head of the Private Sector Film Scenarios Committee at the Cinema Foundation in Syria. He was the head of the jury in the short story competition conducted by the Syrian newspaper Tishreen in 1981 and the competition conducted by the University of Lattakia in 1979. He was a member of the short story competition committee in Al Tadamun magazine in London.
