Indian director, writer, actor, producer, and composer born on February 24, 1963 in Mumbai, India. He started his career as an assistant director with Vidhu Vindu Chopra. He made his first steps in directing in 1996 with his famous movie Khamoshi the Musical (1996). His feature film Devdas (2002) was nominated for a BAFTA Award in the Best Foreign Film category. He represented India for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars with Black (2005) and Bajirao Mastani (2005). |
