An American actor born in New York in 1913. He loved sports from a young age and was one of the basketball players during his studies at New York University. He then joined the circus at the age of seventeen as an acrobat player. He participated in World War II and performed acrobatics for the military in Australia and North Africa. Although he never studied acting, his physical fitness helped him in 1946 to appear as a movie star and achieve international fame. From his works: The Leopard (1963), Judgment at Nuremberg (1961) and Sorry, Wrong Number (1948). Among the awards he received: Best Actor Award from the New York Critics Association, Best Actor Oscar in 1960 for his movie (The Margantry). |
