An Egyptian poet and songwriter, born in 1929 in the village of Mansa, Ashmoun district, Menoufia governorate. He graduated from the Faculty of Commerce, and worked as a commissioner in the tax authority. He is considered one of the most famous Arab song poets of the 20th century, where he composed the most famous songs of Umm Kulthum, such as "You Are My Life", and "Night of Love". He was called "The Poet of the Two Pyramids" because he wrote the songs of Umm Kulthum, which were composed by Mohamed Abdel Wahab. He passed away on 2008.
