Channing Tatum is an American dancer, actor and producer best known for his roles in "Magic Mike" (2012), "21 Jump Street" (2012), "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" (2009) and "Step Up" (2006), in which he falls in love with his dance partner, played by his now wife, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Tatum was born in Cullman, Alabama, on April 26, 1980 but grew up in a rural town in Mississippi. Before strictly pursuing acting, he worked as a dancer, stripper and model. After years of work in commercials, and a few supporting film roles, Tatum was cast alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Shia LaBeouf in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" (2006), which won the Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. His performance earned rave reviews. One British reviewer wrote, "The real star is Channing Tatum... The camera doesn't just love him, it wants to marry him, settle down, and have his babies." He was nominated for a Gotham Award and an Independent Spirit Award for this role. Tatum ventured from more athletic, action roles to romantic leads with "Dear John" (2010) and "The Vow" (2012) and comedic turns with "21 Jump Street" (2012) and "Magic Mike" (2012), Steven Soderbergh's raunchy and much buzzed about film based on Tatum's own experiences as an 18-year-old stripper in Tampa, Florida.
