An American actress born on September 10, 1953 in Palo Alto, California. Her father is director and theater producer Jules Irving and her mother is actress Priscilla Pointer. She began her artistic career in 1975 with the TV series The Rookies. She's known for Traffic (2000), Carrie (1976), Crossing Delancey (1988), and Yentl (1983) for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
