American author born in Portland, Maine, on 21 September 1947. He's famous for his horror novels which have sold million of copies. His parents separated when he was a child. He went to school in Lisbon Falls and graduated to join the University of Maine, in which he was a very active student who joined the student union and used to write articles for the student paper called the "Maine Campus" protesting the Vietnam war. Later on, he became a teacher at the university and began to publish his horror novels by the year 1971, which were extremely popular.
Many of his works were adapted into films and series such as The Shining (1989), Maximum Overdrive (1986), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), It (2017), and Chapelwaite (2021). He has been married to Tabitha King since 1971 and they have three children.

Stephen King is one of the most popular authors in recent history. Due to family problems, he had to travel around numerous states and eventually returned to Maine in 1958. One year later he began his writing career with his brother David when they wrote “Dave’s Rag”. In 1963, he attended the University of Lisbon where he published a collection of 18 short stories called “People, Places and things --- Volumes 1”. Among his most famous books are “It”, “Christine”, “Darked out Series”, “The Green Mile” and “Misery”. “The Shawshank Redemption”, one of the movies based on his novel, is one of the highest rated movies.
