Egyptian writer born on 17 June 1917 in Fayoum, he attended the Faculty of Science, Cairo University and was appointed a teacher's assistant upon graduating. He earned his PhD from the University of Sheffield in Entomology. He has written poetry, plays, short stories, novels, and...Read more prose as well as songs for famous singers such as Abdel Halim Hafez and Karem Mahmoud. He wrote over 400 works for the radio including "Bitter Honey" which was adapted into a film of the same name. He died on 18 September 1999.
